For the first time ever in Purple Nasties history, we made it through to the finals of the Royber Charity Day. Although we couldn't quite beat Penarth to take the trophy we were so happy to come a respectable 2nd place
Our 2nd XI got to the cup finals of Hoci Cymru's Challenge Cup after beating Gwent on shuffles in the semi-finals. The finals were so close and BLHC battled till the end. However, the final score was 2-1 to Fishguard. What an experience for the squad though, especially after securing promotion to the 3rd Division.
Our 1st XI made it through to the semi-finals of Hoci Cymru's Trophy for the second year in a row. It was a thrilling match against Clwb Hoci Eirias up in Newtown.
We are so proud of our youth players who played for the South Coast County in the U17s County Championships and came away as CHAMPIONS. Nine of our players were also selected to go through to Hoci Cymru's Regional squads.
BLHC like to take every opportunity to support charity events. Last season we raised money for Children in Need (wearing odd socks, Pudsey ears etc), Cancer Research, hosted the Gareth Watkins Memorial Day in aid of Macmillan Cancer support and so much more.
At the start of the season our 1st XI won the Caerphilly Cup and a combined team of our 2nd and 3rd XI players came a respectable 3rd.
Our players took part in the inaugural South Wales Mixed Hockey League this summer in Divisions 1 and 2. The A team were unbeaten in Division 1 and got through to the league finals. It was a highly competitive match which went right down to the wire. The final score was 2-1 to Penarth, however, what a great first season in the league.
We have taken part in the Summer 7s league up in Ystrad Mynach for eight weeks. It has been great experience for our younger players. Many thanks to the team at Sue Noakes for hosting it each week.
BLHC competed in the South Wales Indoor Hockey League in December and January. The 2nd team came 3rd in the Plate after beating Dowlais 1-0. Many thanks to our Indoor sponsors Tungsten Corporate Solutions.
